About PSNA Toastmasters Club

PSNA Toastmasters was started in January 2021 with an objective of providing international platforms to the students of PSNACET in connection with developing communication, leadership and public speaking skills.

It helps the students of PSNA CET in enriching their command over the English language and confidence on stage. It teaches them how to organise their ideas, and present them effectively in the best possible ways. At present, there are 24 members in the club.

Mr. Harihara Subramanian, a distinguished alumnus of PSNA CET with other committed team of alumni guides and steers the club towards the target. He hosts weekly online sessions through Zoom meeting platform.

Every Saturday in a week, the club meets its members for an hour in the evening and the members do both prepared and impromptu presentations. In the concluding session, tips, tools, guidelines and techniques are shared by the experts, mentors and evaluators for bringing originality and creativity in the presentations. Varieties of oratory skills like storytelling, humorous speeches, and motivational speeches are experimented. There are three sessions in the schedule.

Prepared speech session: Members of the club deliver speeches for 5–7 minutes with the guidance of their mentors.
Table topic session: Members do impromptu speech topics for 1-2 minutes.
Evaluation session: The evaluators evaluate the prepared speeches and give suggestions for better presentations.
Roles of the mentors

The members of the Faculty of English along with the committed members of faculty from other branches of engineering act as mentors and perform various roles like. At present, there are 7 mentors who guide 3 students each.

Grammarian: points out the grammatical mistakes of the presenters and offers reasons, rules, examples and suggestions
Evaluator: provides feedback in the presentation strategies that are used by the presenters and gives suggestions for improvement.
Timer: monitors time for each speaker and signal them accordingly to finish their presentations in time.
Thus, PSNA Toastmasters is an excellent place where one can reinvent oneself in connection with public speaking, time management, organizing, punctuality, prioritizing and addressing large gatherings with huge confidence.
